2026 Shiki-no-Mori Park (四季の杜公園) Water Play Area: A Full Day Course
This is a free one-day course starring the Shiki-no-Mori Park (四季の杜公園) Water Play Area in Hakodate City. In 2026 it opens from Wednesday, July 1, becoming available as soon as preparations are complete (the closing date has not been announced). Spread across a hilltop, this park has beautiful gardens and a lawn plaza, and on clear days you can look out from Hakodate's urban area all the way to the Tsugaru Strait, an openness that is its great appeal. The water play area is shallow, so even children who have only just started walking can safely dip their feet and play. There are restrooms at the park center and a well-maintained parking lot, making it easy for families to plan a full day. In the morning, visit Hakodate Tsutaya Books (函館蔦屋書店). The spacious, bookshelf-lined store is easy to get around with a stroller, and children can choose picture books at their own pace. For lunch, head to Lucky Pierrot (ラッキーピエロ), a local burger chain operating only around Hakodate. Its generous burgers are a flavor you should definitely try when you come to Hakodate. In the afternoon, it is finally time for the Shiki-no-Mori Park (四季の杜公園) Water Play Area, where you can splash around until evening. The hilltop breeze is cooler than in town, letting you spend a summer afternoon at ease.
