2026 Miyabe Memorial Green Space (宮部記念緑地) Water Play Area Full-Day Course

West of Sapporo Station, in a quiet residential area, Miyabe Memorial Green Space (宮部記念緑地) is a small patch of greenery where neighborhood children spend their summers. The shallow water play area on its grounds, the Miyabe Memorial Green Space Water Play Area (宮部記念緑地 水遊び場), is open from Monday, June 29 through Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and it's free to use. Because it's not a large facility, it doesn't get crowded, letting small children get used to the water at their own pace — one of the charms of a neighborhood water play spot. This course is arranged so you touch on the origins of the city of Sapporo before heading to the water play. In the morning, visit Hokkaido University Botanic Garden (北海道大学植物園). Walk through grounds that preserve a primeval forest hard to believe exists in the heart of the city, and stop by the memorial museum named after botanist Kingo Miyabe (宮部金吾). At midday, move to Sapporo Stellar Place (札幌ステラプレイス), directly connected to Sapporo Station, for a proper rest somewhere air-conditioned. In the afternoon, change into swimwear and head to the green space, splashing around until evening. Since everything connects by foot and subway, it's an easy course to plan even without a car.
