2026 Tonden Nishi Park (屯田西公園) Water Play Area: Full-Day Course

In summer, a water play area with a water slide appears at Tonden Nishi Park (屯田西公園) in Kita-ku, Sapporo. The Tonden Nishi Park Water Play Area (Water Slide) is open from Sunday, July 5 to Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 9:00 to 16:00, and admission is free. The slide has three lanes, and the ride is so satisfying that it is hard to believe the park is free, which makes it a favorite with children. A shallow water play area is provided as well, so little ones who are still afraid to slide can enjoy themselves starting with just dipping their feet in. There are restrooms on site, so you can change there too. For this day we built the plan around a morning spent getting to know the Tonden area and an afternoon devoted to water play. First visit Tonden Shrine (屯田神社) and touch on how this land's name derives from the tondenhei (屯田兵) farmer-soldiers of the pioneer era. Then enjoy the greenhouse flowers and the Lily Train at Yurigahara Park, with a packed lunch on the lawn. In the afternoon, change into swimsuits and head for Tonden Nishi Park. The operating period may shift depending on weather conditions, so check whether it is open on the day before you set out.
