2026 Shinkawa Miharukasu Green Space Landscape Waterway: Full-Day Course

In Kita Ward, Sapporo, a long narrow green space beside the Shinkawa River holds a shallow channel that flows only in summer. That is the Shinkawa Miharukasu Green Space Landscape Waterway. In 2026 it is open from Sunday, July 5 to Sunday, August 23, from 9:00 to 16:00, and admission is free. There is no pool-like depth here; the water runs only ankle-deep, so even small children who are afraid of water can get used to it at their own pace. The surroundings are open, with residential streets and river views spreading out, and the absence of crowds is what makes this green space so pleasant. This itinerary is built to savor the scenery of the Shinkawa area first and then head to the water. In the morning you walk the long cherry-tree avenue that follows the river. Famous for blossoms in spring, in summer it fills with leaves, becomes a green tunnel and turns into a shaded promenade. Then move to Noshi Park (農試公園) for wide lawns and large play structures, followed by a picnic lunch in the shade. In the afternoon, change into swimwear and return to the green space.
