2026 Asabu Park Landscape Waterway (麻生公園 修景水路): Full-Day Course
Asabu Park (麻生公園) sits in the middle of the Asabu neighborhood, close to the northern terminus of the subway Namboku Line. The shallow landscape channel inside the park, the Asabu Park Landscape Waterway (麻生公園 修景水路), is open in 2026 from Sunday, July 5 to Sunday, August 23, from 9:00 to 16:00, and it is free to use. The water runs only ankle-deep, so even small children who are afraid of water can get used to it at their own pace. It is within walking distance of both the subway and JR stations, which makes Asabu easy to visit even without a car. This itinerary devotes the morning to the Hokkaido University campus and the afternoon to water play. The Hokkaido University Museum (北海道大学総合博物館) is free to enter and lines up impressive exhibits, from dinosaur and mammoth fossils to the university's own research materials. For lunch, head to a student cafeteria on the same campus. Choosing your own dishes in the large dining hall becomes a small adventure for a child. In the afternoon, change into swimwear and go to Asabu Park (麻生公園). Because the season can shift with the weather, check the opening status for the day before you set out.
