2026 Onoppuro Kurinoki Park Water Play Area: A Full Day Out
The Onoppuro Kurinoki Park Water Play Area is a free water play spot that appears only in summer at Onoppuro Kurinoki Park in Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo. In 2026 it is open from Wednesday, July 1 to Monday, August 31, from 9:30 to 16:30. The venue is Onoppuro Kurinoki Park in Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo, and because the water is shallow, even small children can easily step in and play within their parents' sight. Admission is free, and since it stays open for two whole months, you can come back again and again through the summer holidays. In the morning, head to Nopporo Forest Park (野幌森林公園), which spreads out just to the east. It is a place that makes you marvel that such deep forest remains this close to the city, and at the Nature Interaction Center you can look at exhibits on the creatures living in the forest before setting off. At lunchtime, move to the Historical Village of Hokkaido and eat within the village while walking streets lined with buildings from the Meiji to the early Showa era. In the afternoon, return to Onoppuro Kurinoki Park, change into swimwear and play in the spray until closing time. Forest, history and water play all fit within a 3 km radius: a day that only the eastern edge of Atsubetsu Ward can offer. Opening may change due to weather or cleaning, so please check the City of Sapporo's information before you set out.
