2026 Shinei Aozora Park Water Play Area: A Full Day Course

A one-day course combining hilltop views with water play, starring the free Shinei Aozora Park Water Play Area in Shinei Aozora Park, Kiyota-ku, Sapporo. According to information from the City of Sapporo, the 2026 season runs from Sunday, July 5 to Sunday, August 23, from 9:00 to 17:00, opening for 50 days starting on the first Sunday of July. Admission is free, and because the water is shallow, even small children can ease in on their own two feet. Spend the morning at Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, a scenic rise where the Sapporo cityscape spreads out beyond the pastures, with the statue of Dr. Clark as the classic photo spot. The hilltop breeze is cooler than in the city center, making it pleasant even in summer. After lunch, take a break in the shade of Hiraoka Park (平岡公園), known for its plum grove. In the afternoon, move to Shinei Aozora Park Water Play Area and splash about until evening. The charm of this course is that three very different places, offering views, nature and water play, all lie within a 20-minute drive of one another.
