2026 Fujino Midori Park Water Play Area: A Full Day of Fun

This course builds a day that feels typical of Minami Ward along the Toyohira River (豊平川), with the free Fujino Midori Park Water Play Area in Fujino Midori Park, Minami Ward, Sapporo, as its centrepiece. The season runs from Friday 10 July to Tuesday 25 August 2026, hours are 10:00 to 16:00 and admission is free, and because the water is shallow, even small children can get in safely. In the morning, visit the Sapporo Misumai Local History Museum (札幌市簾舞郷土資料館). Housed in the former Kuroiwa Family Residence (旧黒岩家住宅), which served as a wayside rest house on the Honganji Road (本願寺道路), it displays the tools of pioneer life and shows what this land looked like before it became today's residential district. After that, move to the Toyama (砥山) area, where orchards spread out, and taste freshly picked fruit at Hakkenzan Orchard (八剣山果樹園). The scenery with the rocky peak of Hakkenzan (八剣山) behind you has an openness that is hard to believe lies inside the city. In the afternoon, return to Fujino Midori Park Water Play Area and splash about until the 16:00 close. The appeal of this course is that three quite different kinds of time — history, flavour and water play — all fit within a 15-minute drive of one another.
