2026 Hassamu Sanjo Izumi Ryokuchi Water Play Area Full-Day Course

A one-day course linking a zoo with spring water, starring the free Hassamu Sanjo Izumi Ryokuchi water play area in Hassamu Sanjo Izumi Ryokuchi (発寒三条泉緑地) in Nishi-ku, Sapporo. The season runs from Saturday, June 6, 2026 to Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 9:00 to 17:00, and admission is free. It is a shallow water play area fed by spring water, and as the name suggests, a spring is the origin of this green space. Touching the cold spring water lets even children feel how natural water differs from tap water. In the morning, go to Maruyama Zoo (円山動物園). With polar bears, elephants and many other exhibits that let you see animals up close, half a day passes easily. After lunch inside the zoo, take a break in the shade of adjoining Maruyama Park (円山公園) and rest up. In the afternoon, move to the Hassamu Sanjo Izumi Ryokuchi water play area and enjoy the spring-fed water until the 17:00 closing. The strength of this course is that three very different kinds of time, animals, forest and water, can be linked within a 15-minute drive.
