2026 Riverline Asahikawa Park Water Plaza: A Full Day of Fun
This is a one-day course along the Ishikari River (石狩川) in Asahikawa, built around the Water Plaza at Riverline Asahikawa Park (Dreamland) in Asahikawa City. The Water Plaza is open from Monday, June 1 to Monday, August 31, 2026, from 10:00 to 15:00, and admission is free. It has a monument pond and a central fountain, plus a water tunnel where water bursts out at set times, so even waiting to see when the water will come is part of the play. Because it closes early at 15:00, the best plan is to spend the morning in town and save the water play for the afternoon. First, visit the Hokuchin Memorial Museum (北鎮記念館). Through materials on the former Imperial Army 7th Division, you can learn how the city of Asahikawa was shaped. Then move to Tokiwa Park (常磐公園) for lunch while walking around Chidorigaike Pond, a large park in the heart of the city long loved by Asahikawa residents. In the afternoon, play in the spray at the Water Plaza of Riverline Asahikawa Park until it closes at 15:00. History, parks, and water play link up along the Ishikari River in a course that feels distinctly Asahikawa.
