2026 Shintomi Park Wading Pool and Fountain: A Full Day of Fun
This is a one-day course spent with water in the middle of town, built around the wading pool and fountain at Shintomi Park (新富公園) in Asahikawa City. The wading pool and fountain are available from Monday, June 1 to Monday, August 31, 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00, and admission is free. With a shallow wading pool and a fountain, even small children can walk in on their own feet. An indoor pool is attached to the park, which is reassuring since you can treat it as an alternative play spot on days when the weather turns or the water facilities are unavailable. In the morning, visit Tokiwa Park (常磐公園). Centered on Chidorigaike Pond and spread with stands of trees, this large park has long been loved by Asahikawa residents and is perfect for a morning stroll. Next, head to Asahibashi Bridge (旭橋) over the Ishikari River (石狩川). Built in the early Showa period, this steel arch bridge is known as a symbol of Asahikawa, and the view opens out over the river surface and the Daisetsu mountain range. After lunch, spend the afternoon playing in the water at the Shintomi Park wading pool and fountain until it closes at 17:00. The distances between stops are short, so it is an easy plan even with small children.
