2026 Mitarubetsu Riverside Green Space Water Play Area (三樽別河畔緑地 水遊び場): A Full Day Course

This is a one-day course around the waterside and greenery of Teine Ward, starring the Mitarubetsu Riverside Green Space Water Play Area (三樽別河畔緑地 水遊び場) in the Mitarubetsu Riverside Green Space in Teine Ward, Sapporo. In a typical year this water play area can be used at any hour from around Wednesday, July 1 until around Monday, August 31, and the City of Sapporo describes the season as 「early July to late August」. Admission is free. Because it is a shallow play area that uses the flowing river water just as it is, you can enjoy cool natural water, quite different from a pool filled with tap water. Since there are no set time slots, you can also use it casually, for example dipping your feet in during an evening walk. Start the morning with a visit to Teine Shrine (手稲神社) and a look at how the town came to be. Then continue to Maeda Forest Park (前田森林公園). The scene of Mount Teine (手稲山) rising beyond the canal framed by rows of poplars is one of the finest views in Sapporo, and the observation lounge takes in the whole park at a glance. In the afternoon, cool off at the Mitarubetsu Riverside Green Space Water Play Area by dipping your feet in the river water. A shrine, a large park, and river water play: the plan links the appeal of Teine Ward together without any strain.
