A course for a full day of play close to home, built around Teganuma Waterside Plaza Splash Pond, the free water play area at Teganuma Waterside Plaza in Abiko City. In 2026 it can be used from Wednesday, April 29 to Wednesday, September 23, from 10:00 to 16:00. It is open every day during Golden Week (April 29 to May 10) and the summer holidays (July 18 to August 31), while in September it opens only on weekends and public holidays up to September 23. It is closed for maintenance on Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25. It cannot be used on days when a heatstroke alert or a photochemical smog advisory has been issued, so check the announcements for the day before you set out. Use is free, and the adjoining Water Hall has coin-operated showers (100 yen for 5 minutes) and coin lockers (100 yen per day), which makes getting ready after water play remarkably easy. That is a major draw. In the morning, take your time exploring the world of the birds that gather at Lake Teganuma at the Abiko City Bird Museum. At lunchtime, eat at the Water Hall while looking around the Abikon farm produce market, and in the afternoon it is finally time to splash away at the Splash Pond.
