2026 Amanuma Bentenike Park Waterside Plaza and Fountain: Full-Day Course
This is a local day-out course you can complete entirely by train, built around Amanuma Bentenike Park Waterside Plaza and Fountain, within walking distance of Funabashi Station. The waterside area centred on the fountain is the face of the park, and there is a sports ground and a playground area around it as well. Use is free. The opening period for 2026 has not been announced; in past years the water runs during the summer school holidays. In the morning, pray at Funabashi Daijingu, long loved as the guardian shrine of Funabashi, and look up at the old beacon tower in the grounds while imagining the town in its days as a port. For lunch, return to the front of Funabashi Station and eat at the station building or shopping streets to suit what the children want. You can pick up anything else you need here too. In the afternoon, move on to Amanuma Bentenike Park and play in the fountain spray until evening. A shrine, the town centre and the waterside are three places with quite different characters, and all are linked by walking or short journeys, so the strength of this course is that you can do it without a car. Checking Funabashi City's information for that day's operating status before you set out will put your mind at ease.
