2026 Toriizaki Seaside Park Fountain Plaza: A Full Day Course
This course spends a whole day in the port town of Kisarazu with Toriizaki Seaside Park Fountain Plaza, which juts out into Tokyo Bay, at centre stage. Besides the Fountain Plaza there is a seaside promenade and a cafe restaurant, so water play, meals and sea views all connect as one: that is this park's strength. Use is free; the 2026 operating period has not been announced, but in most years it runs during the summer holidays. In the morning, visit the Kisarazu City Local Museum Kin-no-Suzu and take your time with exhibits that convey the ancient history of this area, including grave goods unearthed from the Kinreizuka Burial Mound (金鈴塚古墳). Next, stop by Shojoji Temple (證誠寺), known as the setting of the children's song Shojoji no Tanukibayashi, and walk the temple grounds where the raccoon dog legend lives on. From there, go down to the shore and cross Naka-no-Shima Bridge, said to be the tallest pedestrian bridge in Japan, to enjoy the view from above the sea. Have lunch at the park's cafe restaurant, then play in the water at the Fountain Plaza until evening. History, legend, a bridge and the sea: a day that strings together only the things that make Kisarazu what it is.
