2026 Sunayama Park Toddler Pool: A Full Day Course
This course, built around the summer-only Sunayama Park Toddler Pool set up in Sunayama Park in Wakayama City, is completed entirely within the city centre. In 2026 it is open from Saturday 18 July to Wednesday 12 August, from one in the afternoon to four in the afternoon. Only children of pre-primary-school age may use it; primary school children and older cannot enter. A guardian must accompany them, and swimwear is required. Ordinary nappies and pull-ups cannot be used, so do not forget to bring swim nappies. There is no charge, so you can also play for just a short while to suit a small child's stamina. In the morning, meet the elephants, monkeys and birds at Wakayama Castle Park Zoo (和歌山城公園動物園), then immerse yourselves in picture books at the Wakayama City Library (和歌山市民図書館) in Kino Wakayama, the complex at Wakayamashi Station (和歌山市駅). Lunch can be had in the same building, which keeps travel to a minimum even on hot days. In the afternoon, enjoy plenty of water play at Sunayama Park. The pool may be closed due to rain or other weather conditions, so checking the forecast before you set out gives peace of mind.
