2026 Honmachi Park Toddler Pool Full-Day Course

This is a one-day course completed entirely in the city centre, starring the summer-only Honmachi Park Toddler Pool in Honmachi Park in Wakayama City. In 2026 it is open from Saturday 18 July to Wednesday 12 August, from 1 pm to 4 pm. Only children who have not yet started elementary school may use it, and a guardian must accompany them. Children must wear a swimsuit, and disposable nappies or pull-ups that are not made for water play are not allowed, so remember to bring swim nappies. Admission is free, so you can also use it for just a short spell to match a small child's stamina. In the morning, walk through the greenery of Wakayama Castle and enjoy the view from the keep, then cool off at the Wakayama City Children's Science Museum while exploring its science exhibits. Take an unhurried lunch on Burakuricho, the shopping street below the castle, then head to Honmachi Park in the afternoon. Everything is within walking distance, so even families with small children will not tire themselves out getting around. The pool may be cancelled because of rain or other weather conditions, so checking the forecast before you leave is reassuring.
