2026 Shinnan Park Toddler Pool Full-Day Course
This one-day course, all within the city center, puts the Shinnan Park Toddler Pool, a summer-only pool set up in Shinnan Park in Wakayama City, in the leading role. In 2026 it is open from Saturday, July 18 to Wednesday, August 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Only children who have not yet started elementary school may use it; elementary students and older are not admitted. A parent or guardian must accompany the child, and swimwear is required. Ordinary disposable diapers and pull-ups are not permitted, so do not forget to prepare swim diapers. Admission is free, so you can also play for just a short time depending on your child's mood. In the morning you can encounter the history of Kishu at the Wakayama Prefectural Museum (和歌山県立博物館), then see a steam locomotive and a streetcar up close at Oka Park (岡公園). After an unhurried lunch near JR Wakayama Station (JR和歌山駅), head off for the afternoon water play. The pool may be canceled due to rain or other weather conditions, so checking the forecast before you leave is reassuring.
Schedule
Take an unhurried indoor look at the history and cultural treasures of Kishu
See a real steam locomotive and an old streetcar up close
Cool off near JR Wakayama Station over lunch and last-minute shopping
Spend the whole afternoon playing in a shallow pool just for preschoolers
