2026 Kosei Park Toddler Pool: A Full-Day Course
A one-day course along the Kino River centered on the Kosei Park Toddler Pool, a summer-only pool set up in Kosei Park in Wakayama City. In 2026 it is open from Saturday, July 18 to Wednesday, August 12, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Only children of preschool age may use it; elementary school students and older are not admitted. A guardian must accompany the child, and swimwear is required. Ordinary disposable diapers and pull-ups are not allowed, so do not forget to bring swim diapers. Admission is free, so you can also stay for just a short while to match a small child's stamina. In the morning, visit Negoro-ji Temple (根來寺), where the Great Pagoda, a National Treasure, rises above the grounds. The vast precinct is thick with trees, and the approach path is easy to walk even on a summer morning. At noon, take an unhurried meal at the adjacent Negoro History Hill Roadside Station while looking over local vegetables and fruit, and in the afternoon enjoy plenty of water play at the Kosei Park Toddler Pool. The pool may be closed due to rain or other weather conditions, so checking the forecast before you set out is reassuring.
Schedule
