2026 Arakawa General Athletic Park Street Water Play Area: Full-Day Course
A one-day course spent freely on the Arakawa riverbed, built around the Arakawa General Athletic Park Street Water Play Area in Sakura-ku, Saitama City. The water play area is available from Friday 1 May 2026 to around the end of October (around Saturday 31 October in 2026), from 9:00 to 17:00 (it may be unavailable due to cleaning and similar work). Use is free, and a fountain and a shallow stream are set along the promenade. Because it stays open for nearly half a year, this water play area's great strength is that it fits into early-summer and autumn outings as well as summer ones. Sakura-ku holds the broad riverbed of the Arakawa, and the open scenery hardly feels like an urban area. In the morning, visit the Tajimagahara Wild Primrose Habitat, designated a National Special Natural Monument. It is the only designated wild primrose habitat in Japan, and it shows the value of this land's nature. After spreading out a packed lunch in the woods of Akigase Park, cool off at Plaza West in Saitama City, then head for the water play area in the evening.
Schedule
Walk a precious meadow designated a National Special Natural Monument
A packed lunch in the great woodland spreading across the Arakawa riverbed
Spend the hottest hours cool in a complex with a library and a hall
