2026 Kijima Kogen Park Summer Water Play Area Full-Day Course

This is a one-day course savoring highland coolness, starring the Kijima Kogen Park Summer Water Play Area 「Chapucha」 at Kijima Kogen Park in Beppu City. In 2026 it is open from Saturday, July 4 to Wednesday, September 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with closed days during the period). It is a shallow water play area of 1,800 square meters with a water depth of 20 centimeters, and its charm is the ease of playing in a T-shirt and shorts without changing into a swimsuit. The fee is 1,000 yen per person (age 3 and up); children age 2 and under are free when accompanied by a guardian (up to two children per guardian), and separate admission to Kijima Kogen Park is required. Use is limited to those at least 90 centimeters tall, and preschool children must be accompanied by someone of junior high school age or older. The guest center has showers, changing rooms and coin lockers (200 yen and 300 yen), so getting ready after playing is reassuring too. In the morning, enjoy boating and a lakeside walk at nearby Lake Shidaka (志高湖), then take the Beppu Ropeway to the summit of Mt. Tsurumi (鶴見岳). Thanks to the elevation it is cooler than the city center, and the summer air feels completely different. Round off a day in the highlands with water play.
