2026 Kurumazuka Park Fountain (車塚公園): A Full Day Course
Kurumazuka Park in Kurumazuka, Hirakata City is home to the free Kurumazuka Park Fountain (車塚公園). The 2026 season is remarkably long, running from Wednesday, April 1 to Saturday, October 31, 9:00 to 17:30, and the park's great strength is that you can enjoy the water from spring through autumn, more than half a year. The operating period may change depending on the weather, and it may also stop temporarily for cleaning, pump replacement and similar work. A generous fountain rises in the middle of the plaza, with a lawn area and restrooms around it. When you tire of the water you can run on the grass and then come back again. Admission is free, and the easy access on foot from Hirakatashi Station (枚方市駅) on the Keihan Main Line (京阪本線) adds to the appeal. In the morning, head for Hirakata-shuku (枚方宿), which survives along the old highway beside the Yodo River (淀川). After touring the boat inn building and the life of the post town at the Municipal Hirakata-shuku Kagiya Museum (枚方宿 鍵屋資料館), climb to Ogami Shrine (意賀美神社) on Mannenjiyama Hill (万年寺山) for a view over the river. After lunch around Hirakatashi Station (枚方市駅), spend time choosing books and cooling off at the Hirakata City Central Library (枚方市立中央図書館) adjoining the park. The afternoon is finally fountain time. The history of a post town, river views and water play all connect in a single day of walking and short hops.
