2026 Takeda Park (竹田公園) Babbling Stream Waterway Full-Day Course
This one-day course, welcome news for families with small children, centers on the Takeda Park Babbling Stream Waterway in Takeda Park (竹田公園), Wakamiya-machi, Hita City. It is open from Wednesday, July 1 to Monday, August 31, Reiwa 8 (2026), and use is free. However, the waterway cannot be used on cleaning days (July 10, 17, 23 and 30, and August 6, 12, 20 and 27), so we recommend checking the calendar before you set out. The babbling stream waterway is a shallow channel roughly 110 meters long and 2 to 25 meters wide, just the right build for a place where small children first learn to play in water. The park offers inclusive play equipment such as a combination structure with three slides and a supported swing, along with a playground area, a multipurpose field, a sumo ring, three tennis courts and a 50-meter pool. It is a crescent-shaped park facing the Mikuma River (三隈川), and the breeze crossing the water brings the cool with it. In the morning, visit Ohara Hachimangu Shrine (大原八幡宮), cherished as the guardian shrine of all Hita, and begin the day in its quiet grove. After that, cool off while choosing books at Tanso Library, have lunch, and then head to the park. It is a summer staple in Hita where you can play all day long for free.
Schedule
