2026 Hamadera Park Fountain Full-Day Course
Osaka Prefectural Hamadera Park, a long, narrow green strip along the coast of Nishi Ward, Sakai City, is home to Hamadera Park Fountain (a fountain plaza where you can play in the water), which is free to use. The 2026 season runs from Wed 4/1 to Wed 9/30, 9:00-19:00, and from 18:00 to 19:00 you can enjoy the fountain lit up. It is closed at least one day a month for cleaning, and operation is cancelled in bad weather. It sits beside the No. 2 and No. 3 parking lots, and the park has restrooms and a shop. Admission is free. The great appeal of this fountain is that it runs for half a year from spring to autumn and stays on into the night, so you can avoid the heat of the day and head out in the late afternoon. In the morning, first visit the former Hamadera-koen Station building, known as a work of the architect Tatsuno Kingo (辰野金吾). Then enter the park and walk the roughly 6,500-square-metre rose garden. After lunch, enjoy the rides at the Traffic Playground and move on to the fountain from there. It is a plan for savouring a historic park over a full day, surrounded by one of the finest pine groves in Japan and the air of the sea.
Schedule
A wooden Western-style station building from the Meiji era, a trace of the seaside resort years
A leisurely walk through a wide rose garden opening out among the pines
