2026 Shinmachi Minami Park Water Feature Full-Day Course
In Shinmachi Minami Park in Matsubara City there is the Shinmachi Minami Park Water Feature (Fountain) (新町南公園 水景施設), free to play in. The 2026 season runs from Friday, May 1 to Saturday, October 31. From July to September it operates 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00, and in May, June and October 11:00-12:00 and 13:00-14:00. From November to April it runs only on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 11:30, so having operating hours finely set by season is a feature of this park. There is a fountain that shoots high and a Japanese-garden stream, so you can enjoy both powerful water and quiet water in one place. The grounds also have large play equipment, so children can shuttle back and forth between the water and the playground. There is no parking lot, so plan on coming by train, bicycle or on foot. Admission is free. Early in the morning, first visit Nunose Shrine, known for its love fortune slips, then walk the outer edge of the Kawachi Otsukayama Kofun, one of the largest in Japan. After seeing the ancient and the present layered together in Matsubara, head to the park in time for the fountain starting at 10:00. It is a morning-focused local outing that spends the hours until noon with water.
