2026 Sakuragaoka Children's Water Play Area Full-Day Course
A one-day course built around the Sakuragaoka Children's Water Play Area, a free water play spot that Minoh City opens only during the summer. In 2026 it is open from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31, from 10:30 to 15:30, with a lunch break from 12:00 to 13:00 and closure in rainy weather. It is for children in the third year of elementary school or younger, and a guardian must accompany them. Because it is a shallow water play area with lifeguards on duty, the setting makes it easy to keep an eye on a small child even the very first time they go into water. Admission is free, so you can drop by as casually as you would visit a neighborhood park. In the morning, visit the Minoh Park Insect Museum (箕面公園昆虫館), where the year-round butterfly house and an exhibition room of insect specimens from around the world offer plenty of contact with summer creatures. Next, pay a visit to Ryuanji Temple (瀧安寺) along the falls path, breathe in the air of the mountain ravine, and take lunch on the falls path. In the afternoon, head to the water play area once the lunch break is over. Taking in the mountains and river of Minoh before stepping into the water makes for a day shaped by this particular place.
Schedule
A butterfly house alive all year and insect specimens from around the world
Halls jutting over the ravine and a vermilion bridge, wrapped in the sound of the river
Plenty of time until closing at a shallow water play area with lifeguards
