2026 Tatsuwa Waterside Park Babbling Stream Water Play Area: Full-Day Course
This is a course for spending a full day at the foot of Nanatsumori, starring the Tatsuwa Waterside Park Babbling Stream Water Play Area in Taiwa Town (大和町), Miyagi Prefecture. A brook about 30 to 50 cm wide runs through the park, and since it is only about ankle deep, even small children can touch the water safely. Admission is free, so you can use it for a brief stop to cool off or for a whole afternoon of play. The park has a cooking hearth and a lawn area, making it easy to use as a base where you can spread out a boxed lunch and take your time. Parking and restrooms are in place, so there is little to worry about when changing clothes or taking a break. All around spread the mountain range of Nanatsumori and the reservoir of Minamikawa Dam, and the continuous scenery of water and greenery is the charm of this area. In the morning, walk the paths of Nanatsumori Lakeside Park and count the mountain shapes, look out over the lake from the embankment of Minamikawa Dam, and then head for the park. It is an easy drive from central Sendai, making it a comfortable day-trip outing close to home. The opening period has not been announced, and in past years operation has run through the summer holidays, so check the Taiwa Town information for conditions on the day before you set out.
