2026 Michinoku Lakeside Park Seseragi Waterway Full-Day Course
This course spends a full day beside Lake Kamafusa (釜房湖), starring the Seseragi Waterway (Warasuko Hiroba) at Michinoku Lakeside Park in Kawasaki Town, Miyagi Prefecture. The Seseragi Waterway that runs through Warasuko Hiroba is only about ankle-deep, and because its bed is paved, even small children can walk in it easily and touch the water safely. The park is open from 9:30 to 17:00 and closed on Tuesdays, but it opens every day from the third Monday of July through Monday, August 31, which makes summer-holiday planning much easier. Admission is 450 yen for adults (15 and over), free for junior high school students and younger, and 210 yen for seniors (65 and over), with a separate parking fee of 400 yen for a regular car. The grounds have play equipment such as a roller slide, plus a restaurant and restrooms, so a family can build the whole day inside the park alone. Lake Kamafusa spreads out right in front, and the ridgeline of the Zao Mountains (蔵王連峰) rising beyond it makes a view unique to this park. In the morning you look out over the lake from the Kamafusa Dam embankment, then tour the traditional Tohoku houses at Furusato Mura inside the park before heading off to play in the water. The operating period has not been announced and in past years it has run through the summer holidays, so check the park information for the day's status before you go.
