2026 Moririn Kasenuma Park Play Park Area Full-Day Course

This course spends a full day playing close to home, starring the Moririn Kasenuma Park Play Park Area (water play and sand play) in Rifu Town, Miyagi Prefecture. In the Play Park Area you can enjoy sand play and water play together, so uniquely childlike games such as scooping water and pouring it over the sand arise naturally. Use is free, and the management building has a multipurpose space, a nursing room and a diaper changing space, so families with babies can relax too. Opening hours are long, from 8:00 to 18:00 between April and September, so you can play into the evening when the sun softens, which is a major attraction. Because the park is a large one surrounding a big pond called Kasenuma (加瀬沼), you can take it easy while enjoying views of the waterside and the woods. All around lie the historic sites of Taga Castle, once the center of ancient Tohoku, so there is no shortage of places to stop and touch history. In the morning you see the story of Tohoku at the Tohoku History Museum (東北歴史博物館) and walk the broad government-office site of the Taga Castle Ruins (多賀城跡) before heading to the park. It is close to central Sendai City too, so it works comfortably as a nearby day trip. The operating period has not been announced and in past years it has run through the summer holidays, so check the facility information for the day's status before you go.
