2026 Tsutsujigaoka Park Fountain Plaza Water Play Area Full-Day Course
This course spends a day in the middle of the city, starring the water play area at Tsutsujigaoka Park Fountain Plaza in Miyagino Ward, Sendai City. The area around the fountain sculpture Mori no Uta (Song of the Woods) serves as the water play zone, and in summer it fills with children getting splashed. Use is free, and with a lawn plaza, play equipment and restrooms all present, it is an easy park for families to move around in. Parking costs money, so coming by public transport keeps expenses down. It is one stop from Sendai Station and also within walking distance of Miyagino-dori Station (宮城野通駅) on the subway Tozai Line, which makes it easy to plan even without a car. In the morning you visit Tsutsujigaoka Tenmangu Shrine (榴岡天満宮) just north of the park, then experience a Meiji-era building and old ways of living at the Sendai City Museum of History and Folklore inside the park. Lunch can be taken at leisure at the shopping complex by the east exit of Sendai Station, so even a day with a lot of luggage is manageable. The park is famous for its cherry blossoms, but in summer you can enjoy it as a park of shade trees and water. The operating period has not been announced and in past years it has run through the summer holidays, so check the City of Sendai information for the day's status before you go.
