2026 Full-Day Course: Iwanuma Children's Play and Exchange Center miiina Water Play Plaza
This course centers on the ‘Iwanuma Children's Play and Exchange Center miiina Water Play Plaza’ (岩沼市子どもの遊びと交流基地 miiina みずあそび広場) in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, and lets you play all day close to home. Outdoors there are water-play and mud-play areas, where kids can go all out at the play they love most — scooping up water and kneading mud. Indoors there is water play equipment introduced for the first time in the Tohoku region, along with a ball pit, in an indoor play area covering about 2,300 square meters. Because there are water play spots both outdoors and indoors, it's very reassuring that a sudden change in the weather won't derail your plans for the day. Admission is 300 yen for city residents and 600 yen for those from outside the city; the facility is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., extended to 6:00 p.m. in summer. It is closed on the second and fourth Tuesdays and during the New Year holidays, so plan your visit around those dates. In the morning, worship at Takekoma Shrine, counted among Japan's Three Great Inari Shrines, then take in the flowers and local produce at the Iwanuma Children's Play and Exchange Center miiina before heading to the water play plaza. It's also easy to reach from Sendai by car or train, making it a manageable day-trip outing close to home. The opening period has not yet been announced and typically runs during the summer vacation season in past years, so please check Iwanuma City's information for the day's status before heading out.
