2026 Hayamizu Park Seseragi Waterway Full One-Day Course
A one-day course starring the Hayamizu Park Seseragi Waterway in Miyakonojo City, with a taste of the town's history along the way. Hayamizu Park is fed by a spring famous for the legend of Kaminaga-hime (髪長媛), and its clear water is drawn into a waterway and a water-play plaza where children can splash about. It is open from Wednesday, July 1 to Wednesday, September 30, from 9:00 to 17:00. Note that it is closed on Fridays for cleaning. The official Miyakonojo City page mentions only the water-play plaza and does not state the 2026 operating period; these dates come from the 2026 edition of a local parenting information magazine and from postings by the Miyakonojo City Roads and Parks Division. The park also has a children's pool, playground equipment, three benches, a shop and vending machines, so it is an easy place to spend a whole day. In the morning, tour the buildings and gardens connected to the Shimazu family at the Miyakonojo Shimazu Residence (都城島津邸), then take your time choosing books and having lunch at Miyakonojo City Library (都城市立図書館). The afternoon is finally for Hayamizu Park. Pay your respects at Hayamizu Shrine (早水神社), named for the legendary spring, then play in the waterway until evening. Children who are not yet out of diapers and pets are not allowed, so keep that one point in mind before you set out.
