2026 Insect Kingdom Tateyama Water Park - Full Day Course

A full day course spent in the mountains of Tateyama, built around the Water Park at Insect Kingdom Tateyama (Tateyama Nature Center) in Tateyama Town (立山町). The official website states that the water level of the Water Park is set quite shallow so that even small children can use it with peace of mind, and that in summer families barbecue there and step into the water to cool off when it gets hot. Small streams wind through the water park, with a Fish Plaza, dragonfly and firefly spawning grounds and a barbecue area right beside it, and the water is natural spring water. Because it sits high in the mountains, you can enjoy the water in air that is cooler than on the plains - something only this place offers. The Nature Center is open from 10:00 to 16:00 and closed on Tuesdays, and since there is no statement about when water runs at the Water Park, contacting the facility in advance is recommended. Indoor facilities such as the Insect Dome carry a separate charge. In the morning, pay your respects at Oyama Shrine Maedate Shadan (雄山神社 前立社壇) and learn about the history of the Tateyama faith at the Toyama Prefectural Tateyama Museum (富山県立山博物館). Have your bento at the barbecue area at lunchtime, then spend the afternoon with your feet in a stream of natural spring water.
