2026 Michi-no-Eki KOKO Kurobe Waterside Area Full-Day Course
A one-day course through Kurobe, a town celebrated for its pure water, centered on the Michi-no-Eki KOKO Kurobe Waterside Area at the roadside station KOKO Kurobe in Kurobe City. The waterside area is only about ankle deep, so even small children can step in easily. The official guidance asks visitors to wear water sandals or water shoes to prevent foot injuries and slips, and to play in clothing rather than in swim diapers or underwear alone, so prepare your gear and outfits before you set out. The opening period has not been announced, but the official notice says water will be turned on as soon as there is no longer a risk of overnight freezing. The facility is open every day of the year from 8:30 to 21:00, so you can also plan an evening visit to avoid the crowds. Admission is free. An air-filled bouncing dome, a slide on a grassy mound, and a kids floor with wooden play equipment are all on site, so there is plenty to do even after the water loses its appeal. Pets are not allowed in the water. In the morning, walk through Ikuji, known as a town of pure water, and see the swinging Ikuji Nakabashi Bridge (生地中橋) and the shozu (清水) springs. At lunch, enjoy the bounty of the Sea of Japan at Fish Station Ikuji, and in the afternoon stop at Kurobe City Yoshida Science Museum (黒部市吉田科学館) before heading to the waterside area.
Schedule
See a rare bridge that rotates for passing boats and the springs around town
Taste freshly landed fish beside the fishing port
Spend the hottest part of the afternoon cool with a planetarium and exhibits
