2026 Akasakadai Comprehensive Park Fountain - Full Day Course
A course for a full day of fun close to home, starring the Akasakadai Comprehensive Park (Dragon Park) fountain on the heights of Kai City. The fountain operates in summer and can be played in, and use is free. It runs from 9:30 to 16:30 (9:30 to 15:30 on Mondays and Thursdays only), but the 2026 operating period has not been announced, so check the latest information on the official Kai City website before you set out. The park has a 25,000 square metre lawn, a 33 m observation tower, a forest corridor, play equipment including a slide shaped like Mt. Fuji (富士山), and an 850 m rubber-chip-paved loop path, so much that a whole day is not enough to try it all. There is even a vending machine selling disposable nappies and baby wipes, which is reassuring for families with infants. In the morning, walk through Shingen-zutsumi Park (信玄堤公園) along the Kamanashi River (釜無川) to learn about Takeda Shingen's flood-control wisdom, then meet Millet's paintings at the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art (山梨県立美術館). In the afternoon, go up to Dragon Park, look out over the Kofu Basin (甲府盆地) and Mt. Fuji from the observation tower, and then head for the fountain. It is an easy outing linking Kai City and Kofu City with short drives.
