2026 Full-Day Course: Yatsushiro Furusato Park Water Play Plaza
This is a course for spending a day close to home, centered on the Water Play Plaza (Water Play Area) at Yatsushiro Furusato Park (八代ふるさと公園 親水広場) atop a hill in Fuefuki City. The park's water play plaza allows summer water play free of charge. The opening period has not yet been announced (typically summer), so check Fuefuki City's official website for the latest information before heading out. This park's appeal is that it combines a playground with historic sites: the prefecturally designated Oka-Choshizuka Kofun (岡・銚子塚古墳) and Sakazukizuka Kofun (盃塚古墳) burial mounds have been restored within the grounds, and the large combination play equipment renewed in April 2024 (Reiwa 6) is designed with burial mound and pottery motifs. There's also a Wanpaku Plaza (children's play area), a grove of 300 cherry trees, the Tenbo Furusato-kan exhibit hall, a maglev observation deck, and a multipurpose plaza, letting you touch local history while you play. In the morning, head to the nearby Kachozan Observation Deck (花鳥山展望台), a locally beloved viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the Chuo Shinkansen maglev test track and the Kofu Basin. The breeze unique to a hilltop location feels pleasant, making for a comfortable day even in midsummer.
