2026 Enzan Fureai-no-Mori General Park Hyotan Pond: A Full Day of Fun
A course for spending a whole day close to home, starring the Hyotan Pond at Enzan Fureai-no-Mori General Park in Koshu City (甲州市). With its vigorously spouting fountain and waterfall, Hyotan Pond is a free water-play spot in the nature-walk area. In 2026 it opens from Saturday, May 2, and can be used from 8:30 to 18:00. The closing date has not been announced (late September is the usual guide for the summer season), so please check the official Koshu City website for the latest information before you set out. The roughly 16-hectare park has a play area called Fruit Paradise, a walking course, an observation deck, a multi-purpose field and a municipal gymnasium, so there is never a shortage of places to play. In the morning, visit Kanzo Yashiki (甘草屋敷), the former Takano Family Residence, a National Important Cultural Property that still stands in front of Enzan Station, to learn about the life of a merchant family that grew medicinal licorice, and then go on to Erin-ji Temple (恵林寺), the family temple of Takeda Shingen (武田信玄). The garden said to have been designed by Muso Soseki (夢窓疎石) offers a quiet moment even on a hot day. This course lets you taste both the historic character of Koshu City and a park where you can play to your heart's content.
