2026: A Full Day at Shirakicho Park Wading Pool (白木町公園 徒渉池)
This is a one-day course that stays close to home, built around Shirakicho Park Wading Pool (白木町公園 徒渉池), a children's pool in Shirakicho Park at 白木町28-2 in the Kinka district of Gifu City. In 2026 it opens on a total of 18 days between July 22 and August 10, from 13:00 to 16:00. Use is free, and it is intended in principle for children in the third grade of elementary school and younger. Preschool children must be accompanied by a guardian, and infants still in diapers cannot use it. Opening days follow the schedule published by Gifu City, so be sure to check before you set out. In bad weather a red flag is raised at the wading pool and it is closed for that day. In the morning, visit Inaba Shrine (伊奈波神社), the chief guardian shrine of Gifu, and Gifu Park (岐阜公園) spreading at the foot of Mt. Kinka (金華山), savoring the greenery and history at an easy pace. At midday, take a break while walking the lattice-fronted streets of the old Kawaramachi (川原町) townscape along the Nagara River (長良川). The afternoon is finally time for the wading pool, dipping your feet in the shallow water and sending up splashes. Everything is grouped within walking distance, so even families with small children can enjoy it without strain.
