2026 Chikajima Park Wading Pool: A Full Day to Enjoy

A one-day course built around the Chikajima Park Wading Pool (children's pool) in Chikajima Park (Chikajima 4-chome) in the Shima district of Gifu City. In 2026 it is open on a total of 9 days between July 22 and July 31, from 13:00 to 16:00. With so few opening days, this is a water-play spot for which you will want to fix your date early. Admission is free, and use is in principle limited to children in third grade of elementary school and below. Preschoolers must be accompanied by a guardian, and infants who are not yet toilet-trained may not use the pool. Opening days follow the schedule published by Gifu City, so be sure to check before you set out. In bad weather a red flag is raised at the wading pool and it closes for the day. In the morning you can get absorbed in the hands-on exhibits at the Gifu City Science Museum (岐阜市科学館), then spend quiet time with artworks at the Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu (岐阜県美術館). Both are indoors, and getting through the hottest hours in cool comfort is the strength of this course. In the afternoon, play knee-deep in the shallow water of the Chikajima Park wading pool.
