2026 Mishima Park Wading Pool (美島公園 徒渉池) Full-Day Course
A full-day course built around the Mishima Park Wading Pool (美島公園 徒渉池), a children's paddling pool in Mishima Park in the Soden district of Gifu City (Mishima-cho 4-16). In 2026 it opens on a total of 23 days between July 21 and August 12, from 13:00 to 16:00. Use is free, and it is intended in principle for children up to the third grade of elementary school. Preschoolers must be accompanied by a guardian, and infants who are not yet out of diapers cannot use it. The opening days follow the schedule published by Gifu City, so be sure to check before you set out. In bad weather a red flag is raised at the pool and it is closed for that day. In the morning, walk up to the nearby Sagiyama Castle Ruins (鷺山城跡), a small hill said to have held the retirement castle of Saito Dosan, and look out over the Nagara River and the city from the summit. After coming down, rest and have lunch on the wide grounds of the Gifu Memorial Center. The afternoon is time to sit in the shallow water of the wading pool and play. It makes a light, easygoing summer day that stays close to the neighborhood.
