2026 Kakamigahara Prefectural Park Water Play Plaza: A Full Day of Fun
This is a full-day neighborhood outing course starring the Kakamigahara Prefectural Park Water Play Plaza (Fountain Plaza) in Kakamigahara City. In summer you can go right inside the fountain plaza to play, and in 2026 it is scheduled to open roughly from late June to early September. The water is shallow and it is intended for children up to sixth grade, so even little ones can safely enjoy the water. Use is free, and the same grounds have an adventure plaza, a lawn plaza and a lookout plaza, so the strength of this park is that you can spend the day moving between the water and the play equipment. Note, however, that it is suspended when wind speed reaches 5 meters per second or more, when the temperature is below 25 degrees Celsius or 35 degrees Celsius or above, and when a heatstroke alert is issued, so check the weather carefully on the day. In the morning, visit Unumajuku, once a post town on the Nakasendo (中山道). At the restored Machiyakan you can glimpse daily life in the era when travelers passed through. Next, walk in Nihon Rhine Unuma Forest and enjoy the nature of the hills looking down over the Kiso River (木曽川). After lunch, move to the park, get moving at the adventure plaza, and then it is finally time for water play. It is a course that feels typical of Kakamigahara, linking history, wooded hills and water play in a single day.
