2026 Omachi Aqua Garden Water Play Plaza: A Full Day of Fun

This is a course for a full day of nearby fun, starring the Omachi Aqua Garden Water Play Plaza in Naka Ward, Okayama City. Omachi Aqua Garden is a roughly 1,500-square-meter waterside park built around Omachi Cold Spring, selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Waters, and it is lined with hands-on contraptions such as water play equipment, a foot-pedal water wheel, and a seesaw linked to a waterfall. There is also a spring-water drawing station, so you can actually scoop up the local famous water yourself, an experience unique to this park. Admission is free, the park is open from 9:00 to 18:00, and it is closed on the first and third Friday of each month and over the New Year period. The operating period for the water play equipment in 2026 has not been announced, so please check with Okayama City's information before you set out. In the morning you can soak up the atmosphere of the temple town at Saidaiji Kannon-in Temple (西大寺観音院), and at noon spread out a packed lunch in the woodlands of the Misaoyama Park Satoyama Center (操山公園 里山センター). In the afternoon, move to the Water Play Plaza as the sunlight softens and feel the chill of the famous spring water from head to toe. It is a local outing that ties together the eastern side of Okayama City with a temple, woodlands, and famous spring water.
