2026 Amakusa Park Jabujabu Pond Fountain (天草公園): A Full Day Out
A course for spending a full day of play close to home, built around the Jabujabu Pond Fountain at Rocket Plaza in Amakusa Park (天草公園) in Asakuchi City. The Jabujabu Pond is a shallow fountain pond only about 10 cm deep, so even small children who cannot swim yet can safely enjoy the spray. Several large combination playsets themed on stars and space stand around it, and the appeal of this park is being able to spend the day moving between the water and the equipment. Admission is free. The 2026 operating period has not been announced; in 2024 it ran from 29 June to 29 September, 10:00 to 16:00, closed on Mondays (open on public holidays). Check this year's schedule with the Asakuchi City information before you set out. In the morning, head to the Okayama Astronomical Museum (岡山天文博物館), also in Asakuchi City. On Mt. Chikurinji (竹林寺山), home to one of Japan's leading observatories, you can touch on the universe through the planetarium and solar observation. At midday, move to Amakusa Park, lay out lunch at Rocket Plaza and then play on the equipment. In the afternoon, send the spray flying at the Jabujabu Pond until evening. A course only Asakuchi City can offer, with space tying the whole day together.
