2026: Iwate Kodomo no Mori (Iwate Prefectural Children's Center) Mizu no Hiroba Water Plaza — Full-Day Course
This is a course for a full day of play close to home, starring the Mizu no Hiroba Water Plaza at Iwate Kodomo no Mori (Iwate Prefectural Children's Center) in Okunakayama, Ichinohe Town, Ninohe County. Along with the Jabu Jabu pond for water play, Mizu no Hiroba has a waterfall curtain and even a raft — a luxurious waterside where children keep finding one more thing they want to try. Admission is free (excluding some paid play equipment and campsite fees), opening hours are 9:00 to 17:00, and the closed day is Tuesday (the following day when Tuesday is a public holiday). The opening period for Mizu no Hiroba has not been announced; in past years it has opened during the summer holidays. The grounds also hold a 120 m roller slide, Kumomi-no-Oka hill, the Nobinobi Harappa meadow, Wakuwaku Play Park, the Morimori Toride fort, and a large indoor play area that works even in the rain, so you can fill a whole day whatever the weather. In the morning, enjoy the highland farm-direct produce and soft-serve at Michi-no-Eki Okunakayama Kogen and eat an early lunch. In the afternoon, get moving at the indoor play area and the roller slide, then finish with a splashing climax at Mizu no Hiroba. It is a day spent in the cool highland air, in true northern-Iwate style.
