2026 Takizawa Sogo Park Rock Garden Water Curtain: Full-Day Course
A close-to-home, all-day course built around the Takizawa Sogo Park Rock Garden Water Curtain in Takizawa City. The Rock Garden is a huge water curtain, 3 m high and 25 m wide, where water pours down over natural stone, and simply standing in front of it wraps you in cool air. Admission is free. For fiscal 2026 it is scheduled to run from Saturday, May 9 until early September, on an automatic timer from 9:00 to 17:00. Operation may be suspended without notice in heavy rain, strong wind, or when the water supply runs low, so check the Takizawa City information before you set out. The park also offers a lawn plaza, a calm Japanese garden, and Fureai no Mori with its large adventure structures, combination play equipment, and climbing frames, so you can move back and forth between water play and outdoor play all day. In the morning, visit Onikoshi Sozen Shrine (鬼越蒼前神社), linked to the Chagu Chagu Umakko parade, then look into the region's ancient way of life at the Takizawa City Archaeological Research Center, and enjoy a picnic lunch on the park lawn. In the afternoon, run through the curtain of water with shouts of delight: a quintessential Takizawa day with views of Mt. Iwate (岩手山).
