2026 Higashi-Sanbe Flower Valley Jabu-Jabu Pond: Full-Day Course
A leisurely all-day course in the mountains built around the Higashi-Sanbe Flower Valley Jabu-Jabu Pond at Higashi-Sanbe Flower Valley in Iinan Town, Iishi District. The pond is fed by the famous Shizumi spring water and is only about 15 to 20 cm deep, so even children who have just started walking can wade in. The opening period has not been announced, but the spring-fed pond can be used freely year-round, and the water feels best in summer (typically centered on the school holidays). Admission is free, and there is an event plaza and a water-drawing point. No staff is stationed on site, so use is at your own risk and an adult must always be watching close by. Within the grounds you will also find Yamame no Tani, a fishing pond and catch-by-hand spot open on Sundays and public holidays from April to October, and Uguisu Chaya, a teahouse where you can take a break. In the morning, look over local vegetables and regional products at Michi-no-Eki Tonbara along National Route 54, then take in the wide reservoir scenery at Shizumi Dam and enjoy the mountain drive. After lunch inside the grounds, the climax of the afternoon is playing in the cold spring water at the Higashi-Sanbe Flower Valley Jabu-Jabu Pond. Thanks to the elevation, it stays more comfortable here than on the lowlands even at the height of summer.
