2026 Kure Portopia Park Splash Pond and Medaka Pond: A Full-Day Course

From Sunday, June 28, 2026 to Monday, August 31, 2026, the Kure Portopia Park Splash Pond and Medaka Pond will be open at Kure Portopia Park in Kure City. Opening hours are 10:00 to 16:00, and both admission and parking are free, making it a water play spot that families will love. It was originally scheduled to open on Saturday, June 27, but bad weather pushed the start back to Sunday, June 28. The spacious park faces the Seto Inland Sea (瀬戸内海) and has a lawn area and playground equipment, so there is plenty of room to move around before and after the water play. Swimwear must be worn, and swim pants are also acceptable. Swimwear is sold at the venue and a simple shower is available, but there are no changing rooms. Children in third grade of elementary school or younger must be accompanied by a guardian. The flow works beautifully: sea breezes at Bayside Beach Saka in the same bay in the morning, a picnic lunch on the park lawn, and water play in the afternoon. On rainy or stormy days the pond may be closed all day or partway through, so check the weather and the latest announcements before you leave.
