2026: A Full Day at the Water Play Plaza, Hiroshima Botanical Garden (広島市植物公園)
From Saturday, July 18 to Monday, August 31, 2026, the Water Play Plaza (Summer Fair) will be held at Hiroshima Botanical Garden (広島市植物公園) in Saeki Ward, Hiroshima. A gentle fountain and a mist shower appear on a natural turf plaza, a treat available only during the summer holidays. The fountain runs six times a day, at 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 13:30, 14:00 and 14:30, for 10 minutes each time. Because the times are fixed, it is easy for families to plan their day around them. There is no extra charge for the water play plaza; all you need is the admission fee (510 yen for adults, 170 yen for visitors aged 65 and over and high-school-age visitors, free for junior-high-school age and younger). The turf means falls do not hurt, and even small children who are afraid of water can get used to it little by little starting with the mist. In the morning, take in flowers and greenery in the Large Greenhouse, one of the largest in Japan, then spread out your lunch box on the lawn plaza at noon. In the afternoon, move to the water play plaza in time for the 13:30 fountain and you can enjoy three rounds in a row. The event is cancelled in rain, so check the weather and the official website before you set out.
