2026 Imabari Traffic Park (今治交通公園) Water Play Area Full-Day Course
This is a full-day course to enjoy close to home, starring the Imabari Traffic Park Water Play Area in Furukokubu, Imabari. Imabari City's official notice states that this year the water play period runs through Monday, August 31, but the opening date has not been announced. In summer the park is open every day except Monday, and when a Monday falls on a public holiday it is open on that Monday and closed on the Tuesday instead, so be sure to check the city's official page before you set out. Imabari Traffic Park covers about 1.6 hectares and has park roads laid out for learning road safety, with go-karts (9:00 to 16:30, 100 yen per kart per ride) and rentals of children's bicycles and novelty bicycles (9:00 to 16:30). Water play is free, and you can cool off by dipping your feet into the water running through the channel. In the morning, visit Iyo Kokubunji Temple (伊予国分寺), the 59th temple of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, right near the park, along with the adjoining Iyo Kokubunji Pagoda Ruins (伊予国分寺塔跡), a nationally designated historic site. The foundation stones of the seven-story pagoda built in the Nara period still remain, and their size makes children's eyes go wide. For lunch, move to the pine grove of Shijimagahara, a nationally designated place of scenic beauty, and lay out your boxed lunch in the shade where the sea breeze passes through. In the afternoon, return to the traffic park, enjoy the karts and bicycles, and then play in the water channel. Rides and water in a single day make this an ambitious course that feels very much like Imabari.
