2026 Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park Children's Plaza Water Area: A Full One-Day Course
This is a course for a full day of play close to home, starring the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park (Moricoro Park) Children's Plaza Water Area, a splash pond, in Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park (愛・地球博記念公園), known as Moricoro Park, in Nagakute City. In 2026 it reopens on Wednesday, July 29 after renovation work, and can be enjoyed from 9:00 to 17:00 until Monday, November 30. The fountains operate from March through November; in summer (July 15 to August 31) the hours are 9:00 to 17:00, and at other times they are shortened to 9:00 to 16:00. Use is free, and a distinctive feature is that it is integrated with nature-experience play equipment themed on forest, water and wind. Right next door are the Aichi Prefectural Children's Center and a giant Ferris wheel, so there is plenty to do even when you are not in the water. In the morning, follow the Linimo line to the Toyota Automobile Museum and trace the history of the automobile. After a leisurely lunch that suits the family's tastes, spend the afternoon moving your body at the Children's Center, then finish by sending up sprays of water at the Water Area. Parking is 500 yen for a standard car, or 1,000 yen in peak periods, and free within 1 hour 30 minutes of entry. The center is closed on Tuesdays but open during the summer holidays, so check the official website before you set out for that day's opening and whether the splash pond is running.
